KEEPING UP THE EFFORT FOR 2010
[November 2009]
For Edel Telenzo, Domotex in Hannover (16-19 January) is a key date in the diary and a major opportunity to introduce customers from all over the world to new products and new ideas.
For UK customers serving the domestic/soft contract markets, that includes the new Hudson and Lawrence very attractively priced100% wool qualities – textured and plain designs in six earthy, neutral shades, which will be available in rolls only. And Chelsea, a luxurious 3-ply yarn Pure New Wool low level loop, in eight stunning shades of greys, browns, taupe and mushrooms.
Edel Telenzo also continues to strengthen its offering for the heavy contract market, in particular with the long-awaited launch of the new contract tiles programme, which has come along leaps and bounds since it was previewed in Harrogate. Fleur is a lovely thick cut pile frisée and Vancouver a heavier cut pile, both in 100% solution dyed polyamide with modified bitumen backing, in eight attractive colours.
The Dutch manufacturer and its UK team intend to keep up the ante for 2010 after a busy 2009. Says operations manager Lesley Inman: “We worked very hard throughout 2009 to maintain a high profile and to help our customers in a tough trading environment, continuing to introduce new products and new technology, such as our in-house produced Edelon Protect yarn, to update existing popular ranges and to support customers with good sampling and promotional activity. We don’t intend to take our feet off the accelerator in 2010 either.”
XPRESS YOURSELF
[November 2009]
Edel Telenzo Carpets continues to buck the trend with growing sales, thanks in no small part to “a lot of hard work”, according to operations manager Lesley Inman. “We were pleasingly busy at Harrogate, especially on the first day. There was still that buzz you look for from an exhibition. Our new ranges and future developments were very well received – especially the new Chelsea, Xpress and Windsor collections.”
Xpress is the latest addition to the hugely popular Tube Collection of striped designs in hardwearing quality 100% wool. Originally developed for a prestigious retail interior in Europe, Xpress is a bold wide stripe in a colour bank of six combinations of greys, browns and creams. Xpress is suitable for both domestic and contracts environments.
THE FINAL TWIST
[November 2009]
Edel International, Dutch parent company of Edel Telenzo Carpets UK, has agreed to purchase its yarn finishing supplier, Yarnco b.v.
Yarnco is a young, family owned business with all the latest technology for spinning, doubling and heat setting of yarns – including the latest Volkmann twisting and doubling machines, Superba heatset and frisee machines. It can process polyamide 6, polyamide 6.6, polyester, polypropylene, wool and wool blends. The acquisition makes Edel International fully vertically integrated, guaranteeing continuity of supply and quality of its synthetics and wool carpets.
“Bringing Yarnco into the fold will give us much greater control over lead times by bringing the processes of twisting, doubling and heat setting in house alongside our yarn extrusion, tufting and backing, “ says Edel International managing director Rene Frederiks. “Now Edel can react faster to market demand and should also be able to bring new developments to market with more speed and creativity.”
Yarnco, which is based close to Edel International in Genemuidan in Holland, will remain an independently operated company and will continue to offer its yarn finishing services to other carpet and yarn producers.
